More Motivational Interviewing

 1/22/13

I also wanted to post about Motivational Interviewing since a lot of that video has stuck with me.  I have had the opportunity to counsel in several of my internship rotations, and I often find that it can be difficult to get certain things to "sink in"  or even to change at times, depending on the type of client you are working with.  This article here goes deeper into the ideals of Motivational Interviewing.  It reviews some of the basics (good review for our upcoming quiz), reviews a lot of literature pertaining to its use in the clinical setting, and deems MI a useful approach to improving cardiovascular health and "superior to 'traditional' advice" (Thompson et. al, 2010, p.1242).
