What a Week of Groceries Looks Like Around the World

In community dietetics, no two clients are ever the same.  We are especially lucky in America to have such diverse clientele - you may have a client who doesn't speak English, another who still eats the typical diet of their native country and a client who has lived in your community since they were born all in the same day.  From our orientation talk on diversity, to our curriculum and our experiences at rotations we know that it takes patience and understanding to work with clients of all different backgrounds.  Especially when working with food in the context of culture, it is important to remember that our definition of a "healthy diet" may not always translate for everyone.

That's why I loved this photography series of What a Week's Worth of Groceries Looks Like Around the World.

Another important thing to remember when looking at these pictures is that within countries, and communities, there are many smaller communities present and these pictures don't necessarily represent the dietary habits of the majority.

Enjoy!
