No Time to BREAK your FAST?

Do you find yourself not being able to make the breakfast bell? Are you waking up and running out the door grabbing whatever you find, too tired to bother, not feeling hungry, wanting to sleep in longer, and skipping breakfast all together? Fret no more, here is the BEST (in my opinion), well-rounded nutritional grab-n-go breakfast: Overnight Oats!

First, you might wonder why you should even take the time to eat breakfast. You might often hear breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Well it is, they all are! Breakfast is the meal that breaks your overnight fast while you sleep. When you start your day off with breakfast, you replenish your energy supplies and other nutrients! Breakfast gives you a boost of energy to get your day going. It will also help control your weight and appetite, because eating when you get up will prevent you from becoming overly hungry by the time lunch comes around, and just eating anything in sight! When you become too hungry, you often go for those high sugar, high fat, and high salt foods. I mean who doesn't want to boost your brainpower in the morning anyways? Breakfast improves your ability to concentrate, prevents you from feelings sluggish, helps you feel more present throughout the day, and overall helps you attack each day!

For someone who is often running behind and doesn't always have time to cook breakfast every morning, overnight oats is my favorite go to! My two favorites are Greek Yogurt and Strawberries and Banana and almond Butter.

What you Need:

Oats,

choice of seed, (I use chia and flax seeds)

choice of fruit,

any nut butter for flavoring,

dairy product, such as milk or yogurt; I like both!

Sweetener: maple syrup or honey; I use honey!

There is no rhyme or reason to how you do this but here is what I do! It is probably a good idea to always start out with the oats because that is generally the thick of the meal. You can get creative on how you make your own ideas. You can add in granola, yogurt, nuts and seeds, and anything else that you enjoy! The world is your oyster here.

Almond butter and Banana Overnight Oats:

1. Place oats at the bottom of the mason jar

2. Add in cut up banana

3. Add in spoonful of almond butter

4. Add in  spoon chia seeds and flaxseeds if you wish

5. Pour in 1/2 cup milk; I like whole milk or almond milk

6. Top with honey

7. Lid the jar and store in fridge!

8. Get up the next morning and eat! :)

Strawberry and Greek Yogurt:

1. Place oats at the bottom of the mason jar

2. Add in greek yogurt

3. Add in spoonful of almond butter if you want

4. Add in chia seeds and flaxseeds if you wish; I also add in raisins

5. Add Fresh berries: I only like strawberries

6. Pour in choice of milk; I like whole milk or almond milk

7. Top with honey

8. Lid the jar and store in fridge!

Overnight oats is a great well-rounded breakfast item! You get a a wide variety of vitamins and minerals, whole grains, protein and fiber packed, and full of omega fatty acids! Overnight oats is a great meal that is good for your gut and promotes overall health!
