St. Patrick's Day Punch Party Recipe | Sugar and Soul 

Many Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations revolve around drinking; however, not everyone wants alcohol. This green holiday can still be just as fun with curated mocktails that not only providie fun flavors and hydration, but are also great for kids, designated drivers, and anyone wanting a healthier option. 

So, how can mocktails be a healthier alternative? Mocktails don’t have to be calorie-dense and instead can be light and refreshing by incorporating fruits, herbs, and sparkling water. These refreshers also eliminate alcohol-related risks and can increase hydration instead of contributing to dehydration.

Here are a few festive green mocktails to try this Saint Patrick’s Day!


Ginger Mojito Mocktail

Ingredients: 

-              1-inch grated ginger 

-              1-inch grated cucumber

-              Juice of half a lime 

-              6 mint leaves 

-              ½ cup sparkling water 

-              ½ cup diet ginger ale 

Instructions

1)        Muddle ginger, cucumber, and lime in a bowl

2)        Strain mixture into your glass using a small strainer. Press on the mixture with your fingers or the back of a spoon to ensure all the juice is extracted from the ginger, cucumber, and lime

3)        Clap the mint leaves together in your hands 3-4 times to release the oils and the scent, then add them to your glass 

4)        Add ice and top with half ginger beer, half sparkling water and stir gently

5)        Garnish with your choice of lime wheels, ginger, cucumber or mint and serve 

 

Pot of Gold Punch

Ingredients:

-              1 bottle sparkling non-alcoholic wine (can also use sparkling grape or apple juice)

-              ¾ cup apple juice (ideally use a golden, clear variety)

-              1 teaspoon gold edible glitter (optional) 

-              ½ tsp edible gold pearls (optional) 

Instructions

1)        Add your chosen base along with the apple juice and optional edible glitter to a pitcher. Stir gently to combine 

2)        Add edible gold pearls if desired 

 

Virgin Bailey’s Recipe

Ingredients:

-              ¾ cup milk of your choice 

-              1 oz chilled espresso or instant coffee shot 

-              1 tsp maple syrup

-              1-2 drops vanilla essence or extract 

-              ½ tsp cacao or cocoa powder (or 1 tsp chocolate sauce)

-              1 tbsp cream

-              1 tbsp condensed milk (optional) 

-              1 tsp caramel sauce (optional) 

Instructions:

1)        Place all ingredients in a blender and blend on low until just combined. Alternatively, place all ingredients in a shaker with a few cubes of ice and shake well for about 20 seconds 

2)        Taste, then add more maple syrup and/or cream to reach your desired taste

3)        Serve over ice and add whipped cream and chocolate flakes on top if desired
