Staying Hydrated
There are many ways to stay hydrated throughout the
day beside from plain, boring water. Fruits and vegetables have plenty of water
in them to help keep you hydrated on a daily basis. Water that is flavored to
your liking can also be a fun way to get enough to drink.
It can be hard to get enough to drink throughout the
day so eating your water can be a fun easy way to get enough. Fruits like
watermelon, citrus like oranges or grapefruit, berries like strawberries and
peaches. Freeze these foods when the weather is warm for a sweet treat. You can
freeze watermelon to create a whole fruit popsicle.
Some vegetables that have high water content include
tomatoes, celery and cucumbers. Eating meals with salads, soups or dishes with
these foods can contribute to your overall hydration status. Incorporating
these foods into snacks can also be a great way to add more water into your
diet.
If you want to include more flavorful drinking water
into your day, here are some tips and tricks. Use fruits you enjoy to flavor
your water with herbs and spices you enjoy. Combinations like orange and
cinnamon, strawberries and basil, pineapple and mint. Brewing tea and flavoring
it with fruit would be a hydration option, as well. This works best with red or
white tea because they have little to no caffeine content and will keep you
hydrated. An iced tea using black and green have caffeine which can lead to
dehydration.

ReplyDeleteI think this is a great subject to discuss. Many people don't know that just because the food isn't a liquid, it doesn't mean it doesn't count towards your fluid intake. Fruits, vegetables, soups, yogurt, etc. all count towards fluids. This is important information for people who have a fluid restriction. All these items have to be counted in addition to water, juices, pop, smoothies, etc.
