Starbucks Swaps

I don't know about you, but yesterday was the first day of fall and every part of my being started craving pumpkin flavored, spice scented everything. What's more fall than pumpkin-flavored coffee? Honestly.... nothing. Starbucks is known as the mecca for fall drinks, because of the OG Pumpkin Spice Latte. What could possibly be bad about a pumpkiny spiced drink that tastes like fall in a cup???

Well, it might be delicious, but it is loaded with fat and sugar. A lot of drinks at Starbucks are, actually. There's nothing wrong with a treat every once in a while, but if you are the type of person who wants pumpkin flavored coffee every day, (me... I'm that type of person) there are some ways to make these drinks a little lighter on fat and sugar.

Beverage – Ordered Straight Up (Grande, 16 oz)
Nutrition
Pumpkin Spice Latte
380 calories / 14 g fat / 50 g sugar
Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate
490 calories / 17 g fat / 65 g sugar
White Chocolate Mocha
430 calories / 18 g fat / 53 g sugar
Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino
430 calories / 13 g fat / 73 g sugar

Beverage – A little lighter on the fat and sugar (Grande, 16 oz)
Nutrition
Pumpkin Spice Latte – Coconut milk, no whipped cream
260 calories / 7 g fat / 44 g sugar
Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate – nonfat milk, no whipped cream
340 calories / 3 g fat / 59 g sugar
White Chocolate Mocha – nonfat milk, no whipped cream
310 calories / 5 g fat / 52 g sugar
Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino – Nonfat milk, no whipped cream
300 calories / 0 f fat / 70 g sugar

Another way to save some fat and sugar (and some $$$) is to make coffee at home and add your own pumpkin creamer from the store! Coffee Mate Natural Bliss Pumpkin has 5 g total carbs (did not specify on the sugar) and 1.5 g fat per serving, which is a tablespoon. Even adding a couple tablespoons every day to you coffee will cut back on your sugar and fat without cutting back on flavor! But remember, a nice treat every once in a while is good for the soul!
