Helping the Kent State Community
Campus Kitchen Never Fails to Amaze Us
Helping Kentway Apartments at KSU
| |||
Campus Kitchen runs on donated food, shared kitchen space, and student volunteers.
So what all does Campus Kitchen do?
- Food recovery: recover food donations from dining services, local farmers, and grocers
- Cooking shifts: make meals that are sent out to:
- Kent Social Services
- Center of Hope
- Upper Room Ministries
- Springtime of Hope
- Partners with Haymakers Farmers’ Market and Center for Nutrition Outreach to provide nutrition education, cooking demonstrations, and recipe handouts
- Bridge Program/ PB & J Creation- prepares PB & J sandwiches and takes them to downtown Akron to give out.
- Campus Kitchen Pantry- Kent State student, faculty, staff, and community members can come to the pantry and receive supplemental foods at no cost.
The undeniable force and impact that Campus Kitchen has on combating food insecurity within the Kent State Community does not stop here!
A NEW and recent program that Campus Kitchen at Kent State
just started is the “Kentway Meal Program”
The Kentway Meal Program is operated by Campus Kitchen
and provides a community meal for residents living in the subsidized housing
units, Kentway Apartments. The residents are ages 55 and older and enjoy
playing cards, shooting pool, and listening to music.
The community meal for Kentway
Apartments is every Tuesday from 5-7pm.
Campus Kitchen continues to
fascinate us by serving
ALL members
of the community who are food
insecure!
