February is for the Hearts









Did you know heart disease is the leading cause of death in America currently? One person dies

every 34 seconds from cardiovascular disease. Your heart is a vital organ that helps you live a

healthy life so it is important you take care of it. Its job is to constantly move blood, oxygen and

nutrients throughout your body. The heart is important in controlling your heart rate and

maintaining blood pressure. There are many conditions and disorders that can affect the heart

so it is important we take care of it as much as possible! Here are some tips to take care of your

heart to live a fulfilling life!


1. Eat a low sodium and saturated fat diet

2. Eat more fiber like fruits, vegetables and whole grains

3. Drink alcohol in moderation or none at all

4. Manage stress as much as possible

5. Be physically active, 30 minutes a day goes a long way

6. Stop smoking



Here is a recipe for strawberry cheesecake overnight oats that contains fiber to help with your

heart health!


Strawberry Cheesecake Overnight Oats





½ cup of old-fashion oats

½ cup of almond milk

1 Tbsp of plain greek yogurt (optional)

¼ cup of strawberries

A sprinkle of graham cracker crumbs

½ tbsp of chia seeds (optional)



  1. Grab a mason jar or container that can be sealed airtight in the fridge overnight
  2. Combine oats, almond milk, yogurt, chia seeds and mix until well blended
  3. Layer strawberries and graham crackers on top of the mixture
  4. Set in the fridge overnight and enjoy it in the morning!
