Fun Fall Festivities

It may be getting cold out, but that is no excuse for not being active this fall! In Northeast Ohio there are tons of ways to get active and enjoy the fall! Here is a list of my top 5 favorite fall activities.

1. Take a Hike!

Cuyahoga Valley National Parks is practically in Kent's backyard. Go out and breathe in the brisk autumn air and take in the beauty that is Autumn in the Midwest. Hiking trails vary in difficulty and length, so take a look at this list next time you want to get outside: Hiking - Cuyahoga Valley National Park (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov)

2. Pumpkin Picking

Looking for the perfect fall activity with a significant other or a group of friends? In fall, you cannot leave out this classic. Check out this map of pumpkin patches in Ohio and support a local farm near you: Pumpkin Patches in Ohio (updated 2022) - Visit Ohio Today

3. Corn Maze

What sort of weird and wacky corn mazes are out this year? Aliens? History? Haunted? Who knows! Some farms have a corn maze and a pumpkin patch so you can really get into the fall spirit. 4. Apples

Whether you are picking them, cooking them, or bobbing for them, apples are a fall staple. Next week even the schools in the area are biting into them as part of theMidwest Apple Crunch! The official crunch date this year is 10/13/2022. To participate, buy apples from local farms (can be found at farmers markets!) and take a bite!

5. Take a Nap

It may not seem like it belongs on this list but it sure does. Fall is a busy time of year and we can often overwork ourselves, and feel burnt out before the holidays arrive. Take time for yourself- whether that is napping or doing one of the other activities on this list. You've got this!

Be kind to yourself and others!

  1. I *love* this whole post and topic! I think that sometimes in this field (self included) we get so caught up in the food and MNT aspects of nutrition that we forget to look at the bigger picture and discuss wellness and wellbeing as a whole. All this to say that I love how you covered ways to take care of yourself in this season and I'm excited to try some of these!! -SB
