Food for Your Mood

                                            Food For Your Mood

Alas, it is fall. What happens when fall hits? The onset of the winter blues. The days get shorter, the nights get longer, it gets colder, and you may be inside more.

The good thing is, food has the ability to boost your mood! So what better way to combat the winter blues with some good food.

If you are looking for a mood pick me up you want to focus on two groups, carbs and protein.

Eating carbs increases your serotonin which improves your mood. Eating protein makes your body release dopamine and norepinephrine which enhance concentration and alertness. Read more on winter blues here.

Get those neurotransmitters releasing (rise and shine serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine!) by trying these carb and protein rich, warm winter foods. Hopefully these look familiar and take you down memory lane!

Side note, any of these recipes can be made plant based, or non plant based just with a switch of ingredients!

  1. I loved this post! It is important that we show the positive effects carbohydrates have on our body because the internet is saying otherwise. These are all comfort foods I've grown up eating, so they would definitely improve my mood!
