Food Affects Us in Different Ways

Food affects us in different ways

Whether we eat or not... What we eat... When we eat.. How much we eat...

What foods we pair together...

It all has an effect on how we feel physically and mentally.

 Symptoms Related to Food:

When you don't eat you may find that you become unpleasant to be around.

When you overeat, and feel overly full, you're in pain, and probably don't want to do anything. You almost can't even relax with how full you are.

When you regularly deprive yourself of food, or have difficulty securing food, you often are worried about when you will be getting to eat again **

When you eat greasy food, you feel sluggish and may have an upset stomach

When you eat all simple sugars, your energy level goes way up, you feel jittery, then your blood sugar levels drop low, and you really don't feel well.

If you eat too quickly, you may experience cramping, and may overeat.

You get the idea here :)

One Way Food and Mood Are Connected is Through Chemicals

According To Tomer...Top 10 Good Mood Foods to eat:

Turkey

Cottage Cheese

Eggs

Bananas

Brown Rice

Oily Fish

Nuts/Seeds

Beans/Lentils

Green Leafy Veg

The Take Away:

Increasing fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, fish, and whole grains such as those higher in Omega-3 Fatty Acids or those that are good sources of vitamins may make you happier

Eating healthy doesn't have to be a trade-off to happiness, just try to incorporate some of these foods into your meals. 😊

  1. I thought that this post was very helpful for others because I even sometimes do not realize the food that I ate and how it can affect how I feel. I liked how you incorporated the different chemicals that are released when you eat too much or when you want to feel relaxed or happy. Thank you for sharing this wonderful blog!

  2. This was super interesting and I think it is definitely helpful to bring attention to this with finals and the holidays coming up. Being mindful of what we eat and how it impacts our mood can be another tool to use during this crazy time of year.
