My Top 3 Favorite Low Sugar Desserts!

When you think of desserts, you often do not think of low sugar. After working along side a Type 2 Diabetes, and Pre-Diabetes dietitian for almost a year, I have dived into low-sugar dessert alternatives in order to provide guidance for those who WANT to eat low-sugar desserts. Check out my last blog post "3 Misconceptions of Type 2 Diabetes" for the juicy details regarding desserts!

#1 Beaning Banana's Vegan Chocolate Pudding

Vegan Chocolate Pudding

This chocolate pudding is for more of the rich chocolate lover. If you prefer a sweeter dessert, feel free to add pure maple syrup to up the sweetness. This pudding is thick, almost a mousse. Do you know what I am getting at? Make a chocolate mousse pie with this recipe and top with whatever your heart desires. This recipe has silken tofu, which is fiber, and protein-rich, as well as Medjool dates which is also a great fiber source!

#2 Yasso frozen yogurt bars

One Yasso frozen greek yogurt bars 16 grams of carbohydrates and 5 grams of protein! If you are on the side of caution for added sugar though, each bar does contain 9 grams. But they are a wonderful alternative to ice cream bars!

#3 For the one who doesn't have the biggest sweet tooth, fresh strawberries with sugar-free whipped cream! This is a dessert that can be eaten more often too and you also get a serving of fruit in as well which is a plus ;) Reddi Tip has a sugar-free whipped cream, as well as some generic versions of the brand.

What are some of your favorite low-sugar desserts?
