Yogurt Bark: An Easy, Delicious, and Healthy Sweet Treat!
If you have a sweet tooth, then this one is for you!
Personally, I have a tendency to overindulge in sweet treats. Sometimes, when I want a sweet treat, I try to make it a little bit healthier so that I can feel my absolute best while also not depriving myself of the things that make me happy.
My favorite solution to this is yogurt bark, and it's completely customizable to your preferences! It's nutritious and delicious, packed with nutrients such as calcium, fiber, vitamin C, and other antioxidants, making it the perfect snack for flu season and overall health.
Here's my personal recipe. Let me know if you give it a try!
Ingredients:
- 1 32-oz tub of regular or Greek yogurt (vanilla or strawberry preferred).
- Fruit of your choice (I prefer to use blueberries, strawberries, and banana slices).
- Honey and/or peanut butter (optional).
- Chocolate chips (optional).
- Other preferred toppings such as coconut, almonds, etc. (optional).
Equipment needed:
- 1 large cookie sheet with raised edges.
- Tin foil or wax paper.
- A spoon or spatula.
- A knife and cutting board if you need to slice your fruit.
- A freezer.
- A container or large bag to store extras.
Instructions:
- Line your cookie sheet with tin foil or wax paper (parchment paper and plastic wrap will also work).
- Spread your whole tub of yogurt evenly across your cookie sheet so that it is at least 1/4 inch thick.
- If you are using fruits that require cutting, do that now. This would include strawberries, bananas, kiwi, etc.
- Place your fruit over the yogurt in whatever pattern you prefer. (Feel free to get creative and make a picture out of it! This would be a great activity for kids to help with.)
- (optional) Sprinkle a few chocolate chips over it to add some extra sweetness.
- (optional) Drizzle with honey and/or peanut butter.
- (optional) You can add any other toppings you would like as well. I would suggest almond slices, shaved coconut, or even a light drizzle of a thin smoothie for some extra color and texture!
- Once you have made your yogurt bark to your liking, place the cookie sheet in the freezer for at least 3-4 hours, but preferably overnight.
- Once frozen, you can cut the yogurt bark into pieces with a knife or simply break it apart.
- You might consider using your pieces of yogurt bark as a sort of chip to dip in some melted chocolate, peanut butter, or anything else that sounds good to you.
- Enjoy!
- Store any extra pieces in a bag or container for up to 3 months to keep this healthy and delicious snack on hand when you're craving something sweet!
