How to succeed at...anything

An article by Sylvia A. Escott-Stump found here, titled How to succed at... anything, points out that we do not have to be in a management position to be a successful leader. She identifies a few key attributes to becoming a successful leader.
  • conflict resolution
    • It is important to remain calm and positive when facing inevitable conflict. Come up with multiple solutions with possible complications. Choose the best option and go from there.
  • inspirational leadership
    • Those who are inspirational are able to "motivate people and set their hearts on fire". It doesn't always take a lot but sometimes just being the one who sets the positive tone.
  • being a catalyst for change
    • When taking the leadership role during change, it is important to be very clear about what is going to happen. Communicate with all who are involved. Assign the team responsibilities, encourage them along the way, and give rewards.
  • thinking like a genius
    • People who are geniuses tend to look at a problem from many different angles. Challenging the ordinary can often lead to better outcomes.
