Resolving Conflicts

In Today's Dietitian Magazine, an article “Resolving Conflict-Strategies to Mitigate those Tough Conversations”, written by Jane Ryan, PhD, RD discussed on facing difficult situations when working with others. She explains how important it is to be prepared and to develop the skills necessary to communicate effectively, and develop strategies to help resolve conflict. She gives five different scenarios which include the “newly diagnosed patient”, “master of excuses”, “overly sensitive employee”, “she doesn’t pull her weight”, and the “hot head”. She talks through the problem, solution, and how to practice. I believe this ties in with the Myers-Briggs Indicator when we learned of how to work with the opposite personality types. I think this is a great article for all leaders to read.
