Communication today has become increasingly fast-paced thanks to the Internet and the use of various forms of social media (Facebook, Twitter, blogs, YouTube, etc).  As dietetic interns and future RDs, it is certainly an exciting time.  Through these avenues, we can reach more clients and consumers with our expert food and nutrition information.  However, it is very important to be aware of the ramifications of irresponsible use of social media. Not only must we be aware of properly recognizing the work of others' when we use it online, we must also be careful to protect our own ideas and content.

This article, in a recent issue of "Food and Nutrition Magazine" does a thorough job of explaining some of the issues that we may face in the online world.  As the world of social media continues to evolve, there will likely be more issues to deal with.  Staying up-to-date on any related issues will help keep your content and your use of others' content safe and legal.
