New Helpful Resource for Community Nutrition
In the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics email that was sent out today they had an article on a new feature that Google has created. When I saw this, I thought that this could be used in many areas of community dietetics. It is called “Helpouts” and allows for people to talk face-to-face on camera with experts in areas that they may need more information in. Nutrition related topics that are already offered through this tool include cooking demonstrations, education, fitness, and nutrition counseling.
Those providing the education can choose to charge for help sessions or can help voluntarily. This can be done through appointments or right when the help is requested. This opens up even more creative opportunities for community centered dietitians. Services that can be offered could include consultations, group cooking lessons, or even group presentations. It provides a lot of flexibility for both groups as well and may be a great resource for new programs or ones that are already developed. I have attached the link with more information on this.
